Collectors interested in postal history will certainly be interested in this collection, from which my son will be allowed to gradually sell covers in the near future. It doesn't matter whether it is the largest collection of this kind ever assembled or simply "only" an important collection. Most collectors will have the same situation as me: First of all, they will look for a good atlas in the library in order to be able to locate some of the destinations at all!
One is then amazed that there were connections to these mostly distant countries already 150 or even more years ago and often wonders on what complicated routes this was possible! And we Swiss, of course, are particularly pleased that these receipts from our country have been franked since then, even with Swiss stamps! If you have the chance to decipher the contents yourself, you will gain an unintentional insight into events from times long past, which would be suitable for many a movie!
Today, such messages can be sent around the world in a fraction of a second. In those days, it took many days, often even many weeks, to transmit a message. And since transport across seas and deserts has often left its mark on the letters, we are not dealing with snow-white first-day covers that can be obtained from the post office in first-class quality.
Only inexperienced laymen will therefore expect these old documents to be preserved in this way. The destination is important and decisive here - and if the preservation is also successful, all the better! However, you should assume that the latter will not have any effect on the price!
We recommend that you study the enclosed brochure "Fantastic journey through time to the era of the great discoverers & adventurers" in detail.
